Love Around The World: Finding The Way

There is no link below, because...

YOU ARE ALREADY AT THE RIGHT PLACE!

Dear friends of Playback Theatre or streamed performances,

we are having our second show in the series Love Around The World with JFK Playback Duo on the 16th of June, called Finding The Way. On the 20th of May, Falling (in love) was seen by thousands of viewers around the world and we are very happy to continue our series! The show produced by Kulttuurikeskus Caisa will again be streamed from Tiivistämö by Helsinki City. We are inviting you to be part of it!

An experimental form

In traditional Playback Theatre, stories are shared during the performance and then played back. In our performance, we are trying a new concept made for the streaming age. We gather the longer stories before on videos (or audios or in written form) and the forms in which they are played back will be chosen during the performance. The storyteller can affect the form it will be played back in, and we will interact with the audience in a chat.

WE NEED YOUR HELP – WE NEED YOUR STORIES.

For the second performance, we are looking for stories about finding the way for love – romantically, with a friendship, with a profession, with a hobby… Everything that you can possibly be in love with!

If you feel a little tingling in your stomach, it is probably telling you that you could possibly share your story with us! Check the instructions on how to share a story below. We would be very happy to hear your story!

NOTE: The stream will be PUBLIC, and it is streamed on one of Finland's big streaming channels. Anyone can see the stream. In the performance, we will show the video with a story, choose the form with the storyteller and play it back. If you want to share a story, we hope that you also come to the performance so we can interact with you live. Be also aware that the video might be shown when you send it to us.

Remember to check your local time for the performance - it will start at 18:50 Finnish time!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TELLING YOUR STORY

We are interested in you and your experiences in finding the way. We are interested in how you felt, what was important to you, what happened to you, what you needed to change in your life to find the way for your love.

To find our way to living together, having our separate lives in different countries, was quite a challenge. Who should move and where? Can this even work? How long can we keep our relationship alive when we are so far apart?

Maybe you can find your story first by thinking about these questions:

  • When did you have to struggle to make a relationship to something or someone you hold dear work? What were the struggles?

  • Finding the way for any kind of love sometimes requires sacrifices. When has something like that happened to you?

  • When have you found the way for what or who you love? When was it too difficult to find the way?

  • Sometimes finding the way happens in very surprising ways. When has something like that happened to you?

When you have found your story, the following questions help and guide you in telling the story:

  • Where and when did it happen?

  • Who is in the story?

  • How does it begin, what happens?

  • How does it end?

  • What is the most important aspect of this story to you?

Guidelines:

  • Please tell us your name and a title for your story.

  • Tell a story that you feel safe sharing in a public performance.

  • The stories should be told to the camera – surrounding is irrelevant, but we would like to see the face of the storyteller.

  • The stories should be maximum 3 minutes

  • The stories should be in English
